A PLACE FOR NOTICING,
BECAUSE NOTICING IS WHERE CONNECTING BEGINS
A sparrow fart is an old phrase for dawn. A sprawk is a sparrowhawk. One is about beginnings. The other is about noticing. Sparrow Farts and Sprawks is a place for both. Some of it is funny. Some of it is bleak. Most of it is an attempt to understand what we lose when we stop paying attention to the wild things around us. It also turns out that nature is frequently wonderful, slightly absurd, and endlessly surprising.

Birds, Beasts and the Occasional Existential Crisis
Wildlife encounters, conservation frustrations, nature photography and stories from Britain’s wild corners. Because sometimes the best way to understand the world is to go outside and watch what the blackbirds are up to.

Thank you
The long pieces roost here. The rest wanders. Wildlife, writing, photos, videos, and the slow unravelling of things spill out across the internet.
Follow along for dispatches from the back garden, unpolished field notes, wildlife antics, and the odd muttered swear word when the wider world insists on being spectacularly daft.
